I’m delighted to see my photograph of the legendary 69 year old Phil Butler barefoot waterskiing published in today’s Weekend Australian Magazine’s, Heart of The Nation feature. The photo was taken on a special day last November. See that bulging kneecap? He’d just learned that cancer had taken hold in there; he was going under the knife at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfered and there was a good chance that he might loose the leg or his life. So Phil spent this day doing what he loved most, barefoot water Skiing on the Nambucca river. He also showed me around his cattle farm and his favourite cycling spots. Thankfully Phil didn’t loose the leg. They got the cancer out and made a new kneecap from a flap of calf muscle.
